#Also sidenote I think a cool way for the plot of this au to go would be for barda + scott to join with the forever people

Free story idea I'll probably never write but am kind of obsessed with: Scott and Lightray role reversal where Scott grew up on New Genesis and Lightray was traded to Apokolips.
Basic set up: Scott, as a little baby child, was supposed to die when Steppenwolf killed his mother. He survived, narrowly, but Izaya hid that from Apokolips in fear of retaliation. So when the pact happened, Izaya's son, presumed dead, wasn't on the table; instead, (quite literally) the brightest child on New Genesis was traded.
So Scott grows up hidden on New Genesis as the son of Highfather, with his big brother Orion. And the thing is, he loves his home, his father, his brother, but by the time he hits young adulthood he's positively gnawing at the bars. He's going stir crazy from his limited movement; even in New Genesis he has to be careful, because after all these years, he's still hiding from Darkseid, who might change the pact if he hears Izaya's son is still alive, or even flat out kill him, breaking the truce in the process. It's not something anyone is willing to risk, least of all Highfather and Orion.
But Scott is not the type to accept limitations on his freedom, and on top of that, the longer he hides away, the more guilty he feels. He's not stupid, he knows that he should have, by all rights, been the one traded in the pact. But Highfather prioritized his safety and took the out that him being presumed dead offered, and another kid took the fall instead. How is that fair? It's not like Lightray is any less important than him. Scott may have been too young to make informed decisions or understand what was happening when the pact occured, but now, as an adult, he's becoming increasingly dissatisfied with being protected at the cost of other peoples lives.
If only he could help in some way ā he's no fighter, but he's crafty and creative. Surely, even if he wouldn't he terribly useful on a battlefield (and has no real desire to enter it to begin with), he could at least do something for the kid that got traded in his place? Help him escape, perhaps? He's already capable of giving even New Genesis the slip, Apokolips can't be that much harder...
Meanwhile, Darkseid was fully planning on pulling the same basic gambit with Lightray as he would have with Scott: torment him until he decides to escape at all costs, breaking the pact. So Lightray was put in Granny's Orphanage, ostensibly a normal student, with Granny reporting back on him to Darkseid. And things would've gone roughly like they went for Scott, if it weren't for one thing: Lightray's intelligence.
Where Scott was, as far as we can tell, a perfectly average student, Lightray quickly proves to be exceptional. His fighting is largely mediocre (relatively peaking, of course), but he still wins a vast majority of sparring matches, even when his opponents far outmatch him in skill, resources, numbers, or all three. He does this by simply outsmarting them, figuring out positively brilliant strategies even under the effects of Granny's mind-altering drugs. Granny reports this back to Darkseid, baffled and annoyed, lamenting about cowardice and rebellion; children in Granny's Orphanage are not supposed to think, after all.
But Darkseid quickly realizes that the pact handed them far more than just a symbolical light, an easy way to end the truce; it handed them a weapon. Child of New Genesis Lightray may be, Darkseid reads Granny's reports of cunning, manipulation, underhanded and even ruthless strategy and sees himself. On New Genesis, Lightray may have been a formidable enemy, but now, Darkseid has the opportunity to mold him into a surprise weapon. A cunning strategist, perhaps even on a similar level as himself, completely loyal to Apokolips, but easily able to win New Genesis' trust if necessary. A perfect potential spy. Lightray still has some of that pesky New Genesis kindness, but nothing a little careful manipulation won't fix. But the brute force of Granny's Orphanage won't bend him into the right shape; a little more subtlety is required here.
So Darkseid takes Lightray from Granny's Orphanage and only lies to him a little bit. He tells Lightray about the pact, about how he was traded for convenience's sake; Darkseid even graceciously admits that he'd originally planned to use Lightray much the same way, but had realized his mistake and decided to give him a chance instead. Darkseid sees how special Lightray is, how much more he could be than just a bargaining chip; Darkseid could make him great, give him power and, more importantly, a place to belong. Lightray could be important, and important things aren't easily traded away, are integral to their home and respected as peers. He could have a place here if he just listens to Darkseid, and why shouldn't he? What has New Genesis, what has Highfather given him? At least Apokolips, Darkseid is giving him a chance, believes he can be more than a bargaining chip. Highfather sees him as nothing but a tool, but Darkseid gets him, believes in him, believes he is more. Between the two of then, who has earned Lightray's loyalty?
So Lightray grows up as Darkseid's adopted son, favored even over Kalibak for his merit, risen above his origins as a bargaining chip, and only feels a little weird about it all. Just a little bit. Somewhere in the back of his mind, there is an instinctive part of him that cringes when a hunger dog rebel begs for mercy while being tortured to death, but that's just his New Genesis weakness, and he's long since overcome it. It's nothing Darkseid holds against him, as long as Lightray fights it. His origins don't define him, and he's grabbed the knife and chosen Darkseid's strength over New Genesis' weakness.
They were planning on having him 'escape' Apokolips and slotting him into New Genesis as a spy, but a golden opportunity drops straight into their lap. A New Genesian manages to sneak straight into Lightray's room, in the heart of Darkseid's home. The only one they know with the skill to pull that of is Himon, but this is clearly someone else.
This is Highfather's son, remarkably alive despite all information to the contrary, and doesn't that just reinforce everything Lightray's ever been taught? Highfather had been unwilling to sacrifice his own son, as Darkseid had done, and had instead cowardly offered up Lightray as a sacrificial lamb. Well, joke's on them, this lamb has grown into a wolf, and is ready to earn his spot in the pack. Highfather's son is called Scott Free (which is really just salt in the wound, isn't it) and is here to break him out, take him back to New Genesis, and it's a little before schedule, but they can't possibly pass up this opportunity.
Scott returns home to New Genesis, having successfully rescued Lightray and feeling pretty good about himself, not understanding why Orion is so spitting mad at the whole thing. He knows this means war, and that's awful, but this truce was never going to last, and they all know it. And now that he's seen the horrors of Apokolips for himself, he can't help but want to do something about it. He may be no fighter, but he thinks he can work with Himon; Himon's methods seem to fit very well with Scott's strengths. He can help, but his father still forbids him to leave New Genesis, and Orion insists that Darkseid is planning something, that it's too dangerous. Scott is inexperienced, naive, and must be protected at all costs, and if they think they can actually successfully keep him in one place they're idiots. It's only a matter of time before he gives them the slip.
Orion knows this damn well, but that's not going to stop him from trying to keep Scott from walking straight into an enemy trap. He doesn't trust Lightray, not even a little bit; he still remembers what Darkseid is like, and he knows, knows that Lightray would never have been allowed to live as his son if he wasn't useful to him in some way. Orion would bet his astro harness Lightray is a spy, but what can they do? Highfather refuses to lock Lightray up without concrete proof that he's a traitor, and they obviously can't send him back to Apokolips. If Scott goes through with joining Himon, he'll be in the middle of enemy territory, with a spy to report back to Darkseid on it. Orion can't allow that to happen, no matter what. But he can't just babysit Scott, even if Scott would've allowed him to do that; with the war starting, Orion is needed on the front lines. He doesn't know how to balance the need to protect his brother with his duties towards New Genesis and the universe at large.
Lightray, meanwhile, is having a bit of a culture shock. New Genesis is, for the most part, exactly what he'd been told to expect: bright, soft, holier-than-thou, all-around fake and weak. But it's still a shock to go from dark Apokolips to bright New Genesis, and to his alarm he can feel the effects already. In the sunlight, he is physically stronger and much more comfortable. He settles in easy, feels content in a way he rarely (never) felt on Apokolips. No matter how much he tries to remind himself that these people betrayed them and he's here to destroy them, he fits on New Genesis in a way he never did on Apokolips, and that scares him, a little bit. Because he knows he'll never have a place here; he'd be a tool at best, and an interloper at worst. Orion's hostility, though a significant hurdle in the plan, is almost welcome; it's familiar, and makes it easier to remind himself that he does not, in fact, belong here.
And then, there is one more complication: Scott Free. Scott Free, Highfather's hidden son, for whose sake he was traded, who is naive and reckless and easy to manipulate, and genuine in a way that completely throws Lightray for a loop. Highfather lies, pretending to trust Lightray despite obviously agreeing with Orion's suspiscions, apologizing for trading Lightray even though he'd surely do it again without hesitation, claiming to respect New Genesis' youth above all despite how obviously untrue that is. It's easy to look at him and see confirmation of everything Darkseid told him about New Genesis.
But Scott tells Lightray he never should've been traded in his place and honestly seems to believe it. He defied orders to come 'rescue' Lightray because he believed it was more important than the continuation of the pact. He's weak, in many ways, but he sees the world how it could be, not the way it is, and has a bright resiliance to him, which Lightray stubbornly refuses to compare to anyone he's met, especially not one Aurelie, the Fury who'd been revealed to be part of Himon's rebels. Scott Free will either die painfully or waste the rest of his life away imprisoned, and Lightray finds himself making just a few too many excuses for why that bothers him.
When Scott Free finally escapes Orion and Highfather's watch to go join Himon, Lightray does not immediately report to Darkseid. He contacts Big Barda instead. It's not treachery, he tells himself. Big Barda is wholly loyal to Darkseid, the leader of the Furies, and will get the job done; besides, he'll report to Darkseid soon enough. He still refuses to think about Aurelie, and how closely Barda stuck to Lightray's side afterwards, drawn to him for reasons they both knew but refused to acknowledge. When he hears back about Barda's defection and her and Scott's escape to Earth, he is obviously very shocked and not even a little bit relieved the plan he didn't have worked.
Then the anti-life equation is discovered on Earth, and suddenly Lightray is told by Darkseid that discovering its location should be his top priority. Orion is sent to look for it as well, to protect it, and Lightray, seeing an opportunity, insists to go along. To his surprise, Orion actually agrees. Orion, for this part, just wants to get Lightray as far away from New Genesis as possible, and is working on a 'keep your friends close, but your enemies closer' logic. So off they both go, on the universe's most high-stakes and hostile buddy road trip.
#My posts#infodumping#Lightray#Orion#Scott free#Fourth world#I like this au bc it does what role reversals do best: force you to question which parts of a character are innate#Lightray is characterized as the kindest of new genesis but this is tied heavily to his sheltered upbringing on new genesis#We also see him mostly prioritize orion as his personal friend; this is unlike highfather and orion who are both big picture thinkers#Don't get me wrong lightray has a strong sense of justice but he's a little more prone to ruthlessness than you'd expect#And this au would rlly bring that out; some of his kindness is innate I believe but itd be duppressed like orion supresses his anger#On the other hand Scott's most defining attribute of fucking bailing on everything is still there its just twisted#Bc Scott in canon almost never seeks out danger and doesnt really feel responsible for fighting apokolips#But thats easily read as being bc he went through hell already so he jus wants to get away now#He already has a strong sense of justice in canon and is incapable of not helping ppl if they're in front of him#So in an au where he grew up on new genesis i DO think he'd be inclined to join himon in a way he didnt in canon#Bc that sense of justice would've been nurtured and never had to be stamped out or overridden for the sake of survival#Also sidenote I think a cool way for the plot of this au to go would be for barda + scott to join with the forever people#And find shilo norman as having the anti life equation#You could also have scott getting the equation if you want#I personally like the idea of thaddeus brown passing it onto him#Obvs both of those directions would be more AU than just the role reversal but I think they're Neat

Itās nice to see another authorās process for story/au building! Itās like a little behind the scenes treat, like getting a dessert because you liked the main course so much! Even if I know nothing about Hades or Monkie Kid, I always find myself wanting to know more about these aus youāve built but I never know what to ask. Hard to narrow it down when you know nothing about the source material.
As a writer myself, Iād say itās kind of similar for me. Put the characters into roles first, then build around that. But for me, itās less Vibesā¢ļø and more āwhat will allow me to explore an interesting concept or dynamic?ā And itās not always rooted in creating an au out of other media Iām interested in (although I definitely do that. A lot. Just havenāt shared them.) Sometimes it starts from a simple observation of canon or fanon. Like all the sun and moon symbolism of Edward and Ling, Ed the sun and Ling the moon. And I thought, āwell, what if it was reversed?ā Thus moon dragon prince of Xerxes and phoenix harpy Ling au was born. Writing in that one is really fun!
As for modern ausā¦ I get it. I feel like they donāt have as many interesting concepts to explore with the lack of fantasy elements, but I do have a few, and I donāt mind reading them depending on what theyāre about! I think a modern au that still had alchemy in it could be very interesting, thereās just other things I want to work on more.
That's definitely another way to make aus! A good dynamic is key to any au for me, personally, so "what if" questions do tend to do the trick just as well! That's actually what inspired me to write Solaris. Just the simple question of "hey what if canon. But established edling." (Also total sidenote but edling are a sun-4-sun ship to me. They're both suns your honor. Just in different ways. Sun and moon is super cool tho!)
Yeaaah for modern aus it's not that I've never read an interesting one but they only seem to captivate me if they have an actually compelling plot going on, that's more than internal strife and "will they won't they". One of my favorite mdzs fics for example is a college and tokyo ghoul au fusion. It has lots of college au elements but the other aspect of the au keeps it fresh. Otherwise I'm just. Bored. Call it jaded but I'm well past my days of pointless fluff with no direction ruejdj3jee. No shade to anyone who likes that stuff tho

āØtrying to spread fic writer positivityāØ
i love your many fics:) i think i love your world building and plots/general ideas the most. one of my favorite fics of yours is the guardian of the great plateau one (also really loved the art that you did for it too) just think that you have such creative ideas and insights that lots of other people donāt think of (like your long magic posts! i loved the gem one).
also love all of your head cannons for botw link and zelda, and your sage and scholar designs (theyāre girlfriends. theyāre platonic soulmates. theyāre t4t. theyāre literally anything and i love that)
also your fem!wild stuff ššš and the priestesses au! i guess just all of your things.
youāre wonderful!
Genuinely, thank you. Your words really, really mean a lot to me right now. I'm so glad you like a lot of my worldbuilding/ theorizing stuff bc with totk out, I'm definitely going to be doing more of it lol. (sidenote: I am so happy that electric type things are kind of confirmed as sour with the design of the shock fruit being in the shape of a lemon lol, it was something I hced way back when I was coming up with the stuff with the elixirs)
I'm also really surprised that you like so much of the things with my ocs (including hsfr which only kind of count as ocs), The caretaker of the great plateau was made for a zelda creators kind of activity and I was surprised by how it allowed me to write things that I probably wouldn't have found a reason to write before and it was an incredibly cool experience!
so again, thank you for this. I needed it.

My Luz-centric brain is currently driving me insane with the possibilities of how she may fit into the Force of Nature AU.
Like, first off, this could completely recontextualize her relationships with both characters. For Hunter, I see it going either one of two ways.
She works with, or at least meets, Force and Hunter pre-Young Blood Old Souls, and this is how Hunter is introduced to Luz, in his quiet, kinder persona. They're not super close or anything, they'd probably only meet once or twice, but their relationship is most likely positive. Then in season two Luz becomes enemies with the Golden Guard, which is kinda awkward for Hunter because he knows her and she's not some horrific wild witch, despite going against the emperor's rule? But he still plays it up, until you get to Hunting Palisman. Now the face reveal scene is more than just that, but it's also an identity revealed scene, so Luz now knows the Golden Guard is a benevolent superhero in his spare time.
She meets Hunter as the Golden Guard and the events of HP go about the same, except now we have the dramatic possibility of Luz meeting Force's super cool sidekick, only to realize it's, y'know, Hunter.
Based on how much I wrote for 1 you can probably tell which one I prefer. Speaking of Force, Luz's relationship with Willow would also change. I feel you could easily replace Luz learning Willow was gifted with plant magic with Willow being Force and not change anything, and then Luz is freaking out because oh my god I'm training to be a witch AND I'm a superhero's bestie?! Amazing! Sorry I initially meant this as a simple question but my brain kinda lost track of itself. I'll stop now.
Ooooooh yeah!! I didn't talk about Luz much in this AU because she's the main character of her own story and Willow doesn't really play a big part in the main plot of season 1 so it's easy to imagine her off having these superhero adventures when she's not involved in those season 1 hexside based antics with Luz. But yeah I did imagine that while Luz was too tied up with her witch apprenticeship to get involved in Force of Nature stuff, she is aware of it and the two stories have probably crossed paths once or twice.
Luz was clearly in the Demon Realm for a few days-possibly weeks before she met Willow in IWATA so I like to imagine that she's definitely at least heard of Force of Nature or possibly saw her in action from a distance. The emotional eye glow is actually very rare with witches so that specific shade of neon green becomes an iconic staple of the Force persona. Everybody recognizes it. So when Luz is spying on Willow and Amity from the bushes and Willow has her little temper tantrum and the vines begin to writhe and her eyes turn into that, it clicks for Luz who this person is. So their first meeting is extra cute cuz they're both geeking out over each other. It's like.
"You're human :D!!!'
"You're a superhero :D!!!"
(Sidenote: the concept of Superheroes are very much a thing from human realm pop culture. So while that is basically what Willow and Hunter are, they don't actually know that. Luz is the first person to call them Superheroes, quickly followed by Gus. And his influence with the whole penstagram thing leads to the term being thrown around as the common name for them. Ironically Willow and Hunter never use it themselves. They're pretty humble about what they do.)
Anyway, yes, Luz probably drops into a Force of Nature plot every once in a while and has definitely met Hunter once or twice. Definitely not to the extent that she gets to know him personally. He's still just "Willow--sorry Force's crime fighting partner."
However, once Luz shows up on the scene, she's hard to keep at arm's length. Hunter tries to remain reserved and aloof but she has no concept of personal space and she's managed to get close enough to catch a glimpse of him.
But yeah anyway from the little she interacted with him she got the impression that he was a gentle sweetheart. Tbh I think season 1 Luz would've been super into him (he's edgy but he's sweet.) if she wasn't so genre savvy and was subconsciously aware from the beginning that he was intended to be Willow's love interest.
Anyway Luz absolutely shatters Hunter's aloof persona by activating a glyph and he was immediately like "WOAH THAT WAS SO COOL HOW DID YOU DO THAT? :D"
Unfortunately she didn't get an opportunity to show him before they were forced to part ways.
Hunter, on his end, didn't originally know much about Luz. He knew her status as a human and he knew Belos was quite interested in her. It wasn't until the end of season 1 that she started making herself a nuisance that Hunter was obligated to see her as the opposing side. Even in canon, Hunter never seemed to hate Luz. He never believed she was evil. Just misguided and really annoying about it. He sees her similarly here so their early dynamic when he was still the GG remains the same.
It DOES make Hunting Palismen really interesting because YEAH. Luz doesn't find a stranger laying unconscious in the Golden Guard attire. She finds Willow's quiet and altruistic superhero partner, who is also apparently the smug and insufferable Golden Guard. So this identity reveal is absolutely bewildering.
And it already fits really well cuz Hunter already starts off so pissed off and tight lipped when Luz tries to talk to him in that episode.
So in this case she would attack him with questions over it. Willow said that the Golden Guard doesn't approve of Force of Nature at all so what's the deal?? Why does he do the vigilante stuff??? What's his name??? Does he have an ulterior motive??? He seems like a sweetie so why the heck is he stealing palismen??? Is he actually a good guy pretending to be a bad guy??? Or hmm maybe its the other way around....
Hunter refuses to answer any of it. Just gets all cagey and grunts in response to all her interrogating as they sneak around and try to figure out what to do now.
Some things do end up slipping out of Hunter as they spend more time together and he gets more attached to Luz. In addition to revealing the powerless witch thing, and deciding his own future, he accidentally vents a little frustration with the lack of actual helping the Golden Guard does. He doesn't mention that it's why he chose to become a vigilante but Luz is smart enough to put two and two together.
"Also..." He says, glaring at his tangled up fingers. "Don't you dare..." He begins aggressively before trailing away as he seemingly thinks better of it. "I mean...please don't...um..."
"Don't worry." Luz answers, saving him the breath. "I'm not gonna tell her."
Hunter's head snaps in her direction, surprised. Relief washes over his features. Then it all scrunches up in annoyance. Then he looks elsewhere. He nods, not looking at her.
"You're welcome." Luz chirps.
The rest of the episode is executed exactly as it is in canon, except now there's this extra layer of understanding. Luz comes out of this experience, knowing Hunter is a good guy. And now she's his secret holder š

10 Anti LO Asks
1. ok but thats also i think i dont get? because without the series or character names, what of any of the promo images or banner or anything else give away it's supposed to be a greek mythology story? they just look like people with weird anatomy who are colored like highlighters. at the very least some iconography should be on them, but there's not? like even percy jackson stuff makes sure to give him a trident and have water flowing around him.
2. rachel made three times where persephone could have made the choice to be with hades willingly and didnt do it each time. first time she was drugged and put into his car, where he phsyically handles her unconscious body and puts her in his bed (ew). second is her working for him, which was hera forcing it. third was her going to the underworld not because she wanted to, but because she was hiding from the law/apollo and he found her. where exactly is her agency in all of this?
3. LO seems like the fast food of webtoons. because there's no room to speculate or theorize, you just read an episode and move on, the bright colors distract that it's a rushed and lazy product over something with high quality and effort, the characters are flat and boring, and the plot has no substance. it's meant to be consumed in a rapid binge, because if not you realize what low-effort and what little you're actually getting from it when you slow down and actually think about it.
4. i mean rachel does have some logic to her fancasting, the problem is it seems the only people of color are either demonized for being hypersexual (aphrodite, eros until he's with psyche) or are literally r//pists who are out to harm her white-fa casted persephone (apollo), so yeah, there is logic there, it's just pointing to rachel being (hopefully unintentionally) racist
5. It pisses me so much that I work over time Ā (using references and looking at paintings and reading history for ideas for interesting character motifs) so that any of the ancient greek characters I draw look cool and authentically greek, and yet fucking Rachel Smythe, who can't even be bothered to do more than 5 seconds of research to learn that not all ancient greek outfits were shitty, minimalist off white and eggshell, gets to be revered as an artistic revolutionary. It pisses me off so. Fucking. Much. Not just for me, but for everyone else like me who absolutely ADORES greek mythology and wants to draw accurate portrayals of these characters! To whoever is reading this, stop. Stop rn and go read Sleep and His Brother Death (a comic on webtoons), go play Hades (the video game), go read The Song of Achilles (a book by Madeline Miller). Those are beautiful pieces of fiction about Greek mythology that deserve your attention more then Rachel and her shitty pink highlighter self inserts.
And a sidenote, I know that this is kinda like a modern AU for the gods. I am aware. Does not change that fact that anytime any character is drawn in ancient greek fashion it's always the SAME. SHITTY. CHITON. Maybe with a.cape or a scarf, but for the most part? It's just the same stupid, off white chiton.
6. oh, i thought you guys were joking persephone is now stuck with red eyes. is that seriously what look we're stuck with now? does rachel know it looks really ugly?
7. i feel like the lineart less style actually hurts LO in a way. way too often you can look at a panel and it becomes really murky where something starts and ends, and it looks even worse on a phone screen, because on an even smaller screen the images look even more compressed, making it even harder to tell stuff apart. this wouldnt be as bad if the comic took back up its more high contrast look from the begging, but now it's all one flat shade and im not sure why.
8. im really confused over the marketing of LO, tbh. like the ads are all hxp focused, but the series name implies its not about them, but focusing on the 12 olympians, but then the synopsis is general mythology and at the very end randomly mentions its about persephone? but then you read it and nots sure whether its a teen romance, a comedy, a serious drama, and can't stay straight with its messaging and timeline? and persephone is not there for a chunk of time. like whats actually going on?? š
9. Chapter 173 is like 50% filler. It gives more questions that answers, and not just from the reporters. Like the reporter stuff was mostly filler, and the Persphone and Hades stuff was like yeah we know dont need to drag this on.
My questions are WHAT ARE THE RED EYES? Is it when sheās mad? Horny? Sad? Happy? I feel like the red eyes just show up whenever RS wants to draw them
Flying? I feel like Persphone has always been flying like it wasnāt a bug moment at all. She flew home when Minthe and Hades kissed. But apperently Demeter didnāt know? I guess I donāt remember her flying in the mortal realm but her flying didnāt seem like a big moment, none of the other characters seemed surprised by it.
āAnswer mine first!ā When i got to that line I reread some of it just to find where the question was. That line normally matters when youāve already asked the question not if you havenāt gotten there yet. Like of course Demeter is gonna be worried and ask a million questions.
I know the pomegranate pin is gonna be important but I felt the focus on it was a little too much, like an excuse not to cover more this chapter. Because honestly it felt like 5 minutes of the plot was covered in this chapter.Ā
10. So uh, whats up with Hades weird ass comments... Like "Persephone you look beautiful and if someone says otherwise they can go play on the highway" ???
Because Persephone looking good during a murder trial is clearly the most important thing here.
Also, Perse's response to the reporter who asked her about her friendship with Hades. I mean, on one hand Persephone is right, her "friendship" (or whatever it is they have going on) is nobodies business but her own - but at the same time, its kinda also the underworld denizens right to know in the sense that their future leadership could be affected so they might want to know whats going on if their getting a new co-ruler / Queen that they will be subjects of. They probably will want to know who Persephone is, should she and Hades get married because it's very likely that when (cause lets be real its a 'when' not 'if' they get married) they do get married that Persephone will inherit half the title.
So, eh?

Do it. Elaborate on the Shrek au. I dare you.
oh god. oh god. well i cannot resist now i have been dared. remember that u asked for this. Also, this is mainly a collection of vague thoughts & details that maybe do not matter all that much, and will probably not make sense if u havent watched it.
fundamentally, shrek is a film (insert āim not even going to call it a movieā meme here) about learning to love yourself as you are, but also about opening up to other people & letting them help you & also about how those two things interact with each other.
And who kind of hates himself and feels like a monster and uses the help of his friends? remus, of course. However! to even slightly maintain the vibe of the film the main character has to look hideous and intimidating to others, so weāre adding the lore that everyone can see that heās a werewolf because of a particular scar on his head.
(sidenote: remember when sirius volunarily locked himself into a cave and looked like shit and ate rats? he would also make a good shrek, but if im going to list all the alternative ways this could be done weāll never be done)Ā
Then, an enthusiastic four-footed sidekick: prongs. yes, itās James in stag form. no, i donāt think heāll be human at any point in the movie. (He has to be an outcast, thatās what unites them all, after all)
Also, the swamp is the shrieking shack.
now itās going to get complicated, because unfortunately shrek wasnāt made with the idea of a marauders au in mind, which is kind of inconsiderate tbh. Iād make voldemort Lord Farquad just so that all theĀ ācompensating for somethingā jokes can be replaced with something along the lines of:Ā āwell u know what they say: the smaller the nose,,,,āĀ Ā
the magic mirror that snitches on them is Peter, and he tells voldemort that to be complete he needs a seventh horcrux and that the only thing fit for that is this one Black family heirloom. The black family will only give it away as a wedding gift. enter sirius black, stage left.Ā
lily is the dragon but. weāve got to change the personality. lily is simply a Professional and wants to do her job, but james, overconfident as always, says heāll be able to distract her with his seductive skills (yes, hes still a stag). Weirdest thing? it works. lily, who has never really talked to anyone before, just burned them to a crisp, is too busy laughing to really do anything. Somehow the whole ranting and never stop talking thing is the perfect approach, and Lily is quite curious about the outside world and how it has changed those past few years, and she is quite glad that she doesnāt have to kill him, because turns out he was just lost, and that must be true because he hasnāt asked about the prince yet.Ā
And then she spots Remus and Sirius getting away and realizes she was tricked. she isnāt exactly. proud of her reaction but to be fair trying to burn and kill people was just her knee-jerk reaction at that point!! she didnāt really have the time to get used to the talking thing!!Ā
ehhh sirius changes into a. fucking dog at night. and he canāt control it. thatās the curse.Ā
that one robin hood-like figure? that came to attack them? the blonde one with the song. yes thatās Gilderoy Lockhart and Sirius enjoys punching him very much (#letsiriusblackgoferal2021). Remus enjoys watching the punching and such and then the cute and slightly disturbing bonding montage starts.Ā
they take shelter in the windmill, sirius transforms into a dog but can still talk for plot reasons, and explains the whole being cursed and needing a true loveās kiss etcetera. remus got him a flower but drops it when he hears the wordsĀ ābut who could ever love a mangy muttā and itās all a very sad misunderstanding and voldemort takes sirius away. (sorry abt putting the image of sirius and voldemort marrying into ur head <3)Ā
Here, for fun, Iād suggest just giving Lily some time to shine, going out, exploring the world, because she doesnāt really have a job anymore and doesnāt know what to do. She sees the fairytale people, the different ones, and how they are treated and how lord voldemort tries to get them all away because it doesnāt fit into his worldview. Itās horrible, and at her core, sheās a protector, so one day she just swoops two dwarfs (marlene and dorcas) onto her back, away from the soldiers who try to make them go down the mines and stay there forever, out of sight.
They have fun & explore & become friends, honestly, and her new friends want to show her some really cool dwarven shit letās say a nice gemstone. Lily gives the appropriate reaction but unfortunately a very big dragon isnāt very subtle and the soldiers manage to find them and to capture marlene and dorcas, who both encourage lily to just get away as fast as possible. and lily does. she flies and flies and keeps flying until she canāt and then she stops next to a lake and cries.
thatās where she sees james again. they talk, james consoles her, says that at least she had that friendship because friendship is the most important thing in the world, and then we see him have a lightbulb moment. He makes up with remus.Ā
They crash the wedding! sirius appreciates the dramatics of it all, and, not one to be bested, reveals that he changes into a dog when the sun goes down. lord voldemort, appaled, calls for his guards (remember, the problem isnāt necessarily ugliness, here, but the exclusion of the non-normal, non-human people (shrek as a metaphor for queerness anyone?)) and lily eats him. #girlboss
remus hugs dog-sirius, and heās smiling a lot more than weāve seen so far in this film!! he also presses a small kiss to the top of siriusā head just because. not much happens but a few seconds later sirius seems to concentrate and suddenly heās human again (a delighted human, to be clear). he concentrates again and heās a dog. human-dog-human-dog-human. remus, although he isnāt quite sure whatās going on, watches with a fond smile. sirius remembers heās there and they kiss and itās cute ig
ending scene is a big party with a banner ofĀ āwe ended the monarchy!!!!ā and next to it thereās a painting of the person who was elected as president and itās Just Some Guy. halfway through the party james decides to defend lilyās honour and crosses out theĀ āweā and writes downĀ āIā and drapes it around lily as if itās a sash. remus and sirius are also vibing. dorcas and marlene are furiously digging out gems and giving them to each other (itās how they flirt). the end <3
#i am. so tired goodnight#i WILL tag this however yall are going to see this my apologies#remus lupin#sirius black#wolfstar#do i dare to tag this as my writing#oh to hell with it#mywriting#james potter#lily evans#if anyone unfollows me now i understand#i wrote this while tired this isnt my best work. or maybe it is#skdjh okay goodnight <3 if im writing shrek aus thats probably a sign that i should go to bed

How many works do you have on AO3?
13
Whatās your total AO3 word count?
76,200
(oh what a nice even number - I should try to mess that up as soon as possible, shouldnāt I?)
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Aw man is this intentionally worded to be really hard to answer? I get that it says āwrittenā and not āpostedā but then what constitutes a āfandom?ā I definitely wrote fics for stuff I was interested in long before I even knew the word āficā - I did it throughout my childhood, and then in high school, and while I didnāt do it as much in college, it still happened from time to time. So a lot of the books/movies/tv shows/plays/musicals I wrote things for arenāt really fandoms, and frankly, I had to check my old folder just now to even remember some of them existed. Iāll just list the ones that I know for sure had fandoms, since thatās more fun (and embarrassing), right?
Obviously Doctor Who, classic and modern, Torchwood, Sherlock Holmes (ironically more of these seem to be about the books, but yes, I will admit, some for that tv show too), Les Mis, a couple different Marvel comics & movies, Good Omens, hell, I even found a Night Vale fic in there just now.
And I know there are other older things not even in that folder, some of which never made it to a computer at all, so if I had to ballpark a number Iād probably say around 25ish but really, who knows?
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Across the Gap
On the Spot
Expectations
Shards of Memories & Fragments of Glass
Itemized
(this was fun, Iād never noticed Ao3 even had a stats page until now lol)
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I try to! Sometimes I take a long time to do so but for the most part, I usually get around to it. The rare exception would be if I first saw the comment when I was super busy/distracted and then felt like way too much time passed before I noticed it again, that it might be awkward if I said something at that point.
I do genuinely enjoy hearing what people think, but Iām also weirdly terrified of making anyone feel like they have to reply to my comments. I know thatās probably a little strange, but itās actually a large part of why I made this Ao3 account in the first place - my original one, from high school, is followed by some long-time friends of mine who arenāt interested in this fandom, some of whom are involved in art & writing professionally. The thought of anyone like that reading something I wrote out of friendliness or even just curiosity and potentially having to pretend they liked it for the same reasons stressed me tf out, so I like having this virtually anonymous one because I can relax knowing that anyone who reads or interacts with something I wrote has probably done so only because they wanted to, rather than feeling obligated, and thereās no pressure on them to be nice to me about it if anything I write or post annoys them - so I really hope nobody who does just know me as an anonymous blog has ever worried about offending me by not replying to something, trust me, Iām perfectly happy with it!
Whatās the fic youāve written with the angstiest ending?
I donāt think Iāve really written any angsty endings? I guess the answer would have to be Reckless just because it involves the characters arguing about sad/weighty things and there isnāt really any solution to those issues - but even then I think I ended it with a kind of acceptance that stops it from really qualifying as angst? I also set it in the the same universe as other fics, so maybe that doesnāt even count as an ending? Am I that bad at ending things on angst? Lol
Do you write crossovers? If so whatās the craziest one youāve written?
Obviously none of the fics Iāve posted are crossovers but Iām trying to think now if any of my WIPās are - Iāve definitely poached setting/premise ideas from other media, but in terms of actual crossovers . . . Iāve got a few cross-era or cross-Doctor, a few involving Torchwood, but thatās already the same universe, so the only thing thatād qualify as a true crossover would be some vague pieces of a fic where Jamie, Zoe, and Two end up on the Enterprise, since I think the 60s series of Star Trek and Dr Who feel kind of compatible, donāt they? In fact, arenāt there like officially licensed crossover comics or something? Or did I make that up? Idk, and the ideas are very loose, so itās not much of a WIP either
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Nope, never
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Iāve never written smut, but Iām wondering if itās possible that could change soon. Thereās a longish multi-chapter fic Iāve been working on for a frankly embarrassing amount of time, and the plot does call for a sex scene at one point towards the end, but I canāt seem to make up my mind on how - uh, I guess the word is explicit? - it should get. I know I could easily do a fade to black/implication thing, but itās kind of a source of contention and anxiety for the characters, so to skip over writing the actual scene and just revisit them afterwards rings of āand they slept together and now everythingās fine!ā which feels kinda cheap to me - in this context, anyway - and not the right payoff for a long fic thatās otherwise more of an interpersonal drama/slightly a period piece, if I had to place it in a genre. I feel like my aversion to actually writing the scene might just be prudishness I should get over, or maybe just self-doubt, because I know Iād rather have a well-written, funny, character-development-supporting sex scene than nothing at all, but since Iāve never had any interest in writing a scene like that before, I donāt know if I can do it well, and I also donāt want to ruin a fic Iām otherwise proud of by doing it badly... ugh I have to figure this out
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I seriously doubt it
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope
Whatās your all time favorite ship?
I mean, itās gotta be Two & Jamie. Iāve shipped things before with varying levels of investment, but Iāve never been able to use the term āotpā in a literal sense until I came across them, and now itās already basically gone out of fashion, go figure!
Whatās a WIP that you want to finish but donāt think you ever will?
Iām not sure if I have one? My WIP doc is huge, but I donāt actually intend to get around to finishing everything in it, so Iād like to think that anything Iāve currently singled out to complete can actually get done.
That said, I do have a few AUās that I donāt really plan to finish, but it might be cool if I could. Two of them are for all the main + some supporting characters of the Second Doctorās era - oneās a modern day school teachers AU, and the other is a typical fantasy/fairy tale AU. Another is just Two/Jamie, based on Doctor Faustus (specifically the Marlowe play version) but right now there are two different versions of the ending coexisting in my head. Iāve written parts of scenes & some gen. backstory for all of those ideas, but I donāt know if Iāll ever try to finish them, or what form a finished product would even take - a series of one-shots set in the same universe? one long multi-chapter fic with some kind of overarching plot? And the amount of context/worldbuilding a big AU like these would require might not make them very appealing fics for people to read, so maybe it is better if I just keep them to myself, since in my head I already know whatās going on in those worlds lol.
What are your writing strengths?
I honestly donāt know. I havenāt had a creative writing class since middle school, and since then Iāve only ever shown creative writing to others in a fandom context, so itās been a while since Iāve discussed it or gotten critical feedback. I suppose when I work in other arts or even academic writing contexts, people usually say Iām kind of insightful or at least detail oriented, which might just be another way of saying I overthink things, but I like to imagine Iām decent at finding little points of interest to expand upon.
What are your writing weaknesses?
If youāve read this far I feel like you must know what Iām about to say: I do not know how to be concise.
Usually when Iām writing a fic, I put down the dialogue first on its own, leaving out the action of the scene and whatever plot/context led there, even if Iāve already figured all of that out. But then when I go to add those things in, theyāre always longer than I wanted them to be. I donāt mind writing something long, but I donāt want my fics to be a slog to get through either, and there can be a point at which the stuff Iāve added for context overwhelms the stuff that I wanted the fic to be about in the first place, so it becomes a structural/proportion issue too. I havenāt completely given up on any fics because of this yet, but thereās one Iāve been struggling with for a couple months now - probably because Iām even second-guessing myself on which scenes need to be written out and which can just be referenced like a recap. Hopefully I figure that one out soon.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
((this is karma isnāt it? i posted a fic last week with two words of gaelic in it and was worried about that and now this is karma))
In general, I donāt want to do it. I feel like youāve gotta have a really good grasp of a language to write dialogue & speech patterns for someone whoās a native speaker, and since Iām far from fluent in any language the characters I write for are, I wouldnāt feel confident writing any significant amount of dialogue in, say, Gaelic.
As a sidenote, though, I kinda love it when other people do it, particularly for Jamie. Irish (Gaeilge) and Scottish (GĆ idhlig) are both languages Iāve wanted to learn for a long time, because my familyās fresh out of living speakers of either & I think thatās a shame, but I started with Irish and at the moment Iām still very much learning it. As different as they are, it still helps me understand parts of lyrics or texts that I come across in GĆ idhlig fairly frequently, so when it comes up in a fic I get to feel like Iām being responsible and practicing, and itās great when I can actually understand whatās being said.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Iām gonna go with Harry Potter even though thatās probably not a perfectly accurate answer - itās almost certainly the first thing that has a fandom that I ever wrote for, but it was in a notebook when I was a kid and never something that I even typed on a computer, much less posted online or shared with other members of a fandom. But even then, Iām sure it wasnāt the first pre-existing fictional universe I ever set an original story in, because I did that a lot when I was a kid, itās just hard to remember those clearly or on any kind of timeline.
Whatās your favorite fic that youāve written?
Iām very partial to Across the Gap, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that ranked first on the kudos thing above - but Iāve also got a soft spot for So Merrily Weāll Sing. Itās so self-indulgent it feels silly saying āit was so easy to write!ā but I guess having a fic thatās already just 100% headcaonons and fluff tied together by a song you really love does prevent it from being much of a labor (I also managed to refrain from making that one unnecessarily long, so thatās another win there)
taggingĀ @terryfphanatics and anyone else who wants to do it - sorry Iām bad at remembering whose tumblr goes with whose Ao3 account, but I really would be interested to read this if anyone else feels like answering them!
#oh boy that was long#sorry#also sorry if the 13 is really big for some reason#i dont know how it got that way so i dont know how to change it#it doesnt look like that when i edit the post only when i save it#not fic but fic talk

alright so Iām relistening to Wooden Overcoats and plotting out a soulmate au that Iām writing, and Iām OBSESSED with this moment in s1e3, mostly in regards to one Georgie Crusoe. Itās at the end of Georgieās date with Chapman, when Rudyard accuses Chapman of trying to lure Georgie over to his staff, and then an argument starts, and Antigone just wanted to watch her film, please.
Okay, and what I canāt get over is this moment for Georgie. During this conversation (full transcription under the cut) is the EXACT moment Georgie snaps regarding Chapman. Somehow Iāve never noticed it before?? Like, I thought it was funny that Georgie gets so annoyed about Chapmanās vagueness andĀ āa long time agoāing, that she gets so tired of him. I thought it was more of a gradual buildup thing?
And like, thatās true? Sheās annoyed earlier in the ep when heĀ āa long time agoās at dinner, and she calls him out for it.
But itās this moment here, at the cinema, when she snaps.
When Rudyard suggests that Chapman is trying to lure aĀ āyoung impressionable girlā onto his staff, and Georgie protests that sheās not impressionable, and Chapman saysĀ āworse luckā and then wonātĀ own up to that comment, and wonātĀ explain it. (because I am a person who loves Eric Chapman, I think he leans more toward meaning itās a shame he canāt get Georgie on his staff, because he thinks sheād be a valuable employee, and less toward meaning itās a shame sheās not impressionable, but I digress)
What is it about Chapman sayingĀ āworse luckā to her declaration that sheās not impressionable (and by context canāt be lured to his staff roster) that sets her off? Itās totally justified. Georgie is smart, and capable, and if Chapman really didĀ mean that itās a pity sheās not impressionable, then yeah. Thatās a BIG old yikes, majorly skeevy behaviour from him.
And Georgie calls it out, demands an explanation, which he doesnāt give. And sheās incredibly irritated with him for the rest of the conversation, ranging from sarcastic to incredibly cool to curt. Eric tries to save the interaction a few times (honestly itās maybe a little gaslighty of him, he says theyāre all worked up over nothing), but she is NOT having it, and she makes that clear. And then she leaves.
Anyway. I just. I want to know. Georgie doesnāt take any nonsense, ever. But she reacts SO strongly to this moment. What happened in her past? Like, who hurtĀ her, that sheād be so suspicious of that statement? Did Nana teach her to watch out for people who would take advantage of her? Did her parents (does she have parents)? Or is Georgie just, that way? Did she cultivate this instinct in herself to stay out of bad situations and away from people she wasnāt sure of.
Iām obsessed with The Moment Georgie Crusoe Lost All Esteem For Eric Chapman.
Also, this interaction makes her animosity towards him make so much more sense to me? Like, she felt genuinely disrespected/possibly unsafe, and he did nothing to change that. And he really, really, hast to work through the next few seasons to earn back her trust and respect. Also, this makes the alley proposal somehow incredibly worse, canāt wait to listen to that again with this new knowledge.
tl;dr - Georgie SNAPS bc Chapman says something sorta shady, and I am obSESSED.
sidenote: Georgie also calls this date with Chapman an āexperimentā, can we say lesbian Georgie rights?? Iām pretty sure sheās canonically only ever interested in women. Eric Chapman was her one foray into going on a date with a man and YIKES to that lol
scene: cinema, Friday night. Rudyard & Madeleine crash Georgie & Ericās date. Antigone just wanted to watch a depressing French film. and then this conflict goes down
Georgie: Rudyard, just explain yourself.
Rudyard: Georgie, I know what heās up to. Admit it, Chapman! Enticing a poor, impressionable young girl into your staff roster.
Georgie: *scoffs* I am not impressionable.
Eric: Worse luck.
Georgie: Excuse me?
Eric: Nothing!
Georgie: Could you repeat what you just said?
Eric: No, no, Georgie, really nothing. Should we just--
Georgie: Oh, Iām sorry, Eric, you look sad. Maybe I should hold your hand for comfort.
Rudyard: Donāt do it, itās a trap!
Eric: Butt out of this, Rudyard!
Antigone: You canāt say that.
Rudyard: Thank you
Antigone: Butt out of this, Rudyard!
Georgie: You know what, this was a fun experiment and everything, but I think Iām done here.
Eric: Oh, sure, French films arenāt for you--
Georgie: I didnāt mean the film, Eric.
Eric: Whoa whoa whoa, look, I think weāre getting worked up over nothing here--
Antigone: God, now heās being reasonable!
Eric: Maybe I should push her around like everybody else!
Antigone: Excuse me.
Georgie: You canāt speak to her like that!
Eric: Who the bloody hell can I speak to and how would you like me to do it?
[chaos from the movie]
E, A, G: What happened???
Rudyard: Two unicycles collided. Itās getting good, this.
Antigone: Right, in the name of Christ, can anybody not watching the film just piss off and leave me alone.
Georgie: Why not. Nanaāll be wonderinā where I am anyway.
Eric: Oh, good point, Iāll walk you home.
Georgie: Eric. I think the date is over now, eh?
Eric: Wait, Georgie, I-- [she leaves] *inhale* You know what, I. Itās no big deal. Weāre good. Antigone, Rudyard, enjoy the film. [he leaves]
idk maybe none of that was new for yāall, but I am having a REVELATION.
#wooden overcoats#georgie crusoe#eric chapman#nana crusoe#meta#character analysis#listen i can't stop thinking about this#i love georgie and i will forever and this is such an insight into who she is as a person#i love wooden overcoats#so much#thank you all i'm sorry that was long and idk if it made sense

zukka hp au part 5
Iām so flattered people like this au. I didnāt think Iād be posting again so soon, but I had some more ideas last night. If youād like to catch up:
part 1 part 2 part 3 part 4 part 5 part 6Ā part 7Ā part 8Ā part 9Ā part 10Ā part 11Ā part 12Ā part 13
If you would like to join the tag list
My brief, very long, not at all fleshed out plan based roughly on what year Sokka is in and other associated events:
First year
Sokkaās first year is boringĀ
He meets Zuko, makes some friends in his house, probably a bunch of OCs
He finds the kitchens on day 2
Hogwarts just hires people who like to cook, who cares whether theyāre magical beings or humans or whatever, thereās all sorts of really cool kitchen magic though
Heās always asking questions in class and you can tell why heās a Ravenclaw
He wants to learn about everything
And once he knows how to do more than shoot a few sparks, heās going to start inventing
Heās going to do some truly awesome things with transfiguration and potions
And I canāt wait for him to start arithmancy
Like let me tell you, Sokka is a genius, and heās probably going to be the only one who understands magical theoryĀ
This just ended up being a rant about Sokka, so moving on
Second year
The fun starts
Katara and Aang are finally here
Sokka doesnāt know Aang is the avatar
Iām very tempted to have both Katara and Aang be in Hufflepuff
And they run into Sokka in the kitchens
He does a double take, like who is this boy with my sister??
But Aangās a sweet kid
So Sokka is immediately like weāre bros now, I donāt make the rules
Iroh starts working at Hogwarts (sorry, I changed my mind from herbology) as the potions professor
He comes in on the train with Zuko who just got banished (I actually...might change the specifics)
Sokka doesnāt know what to make of that
Azula is also skulking around annoying ZuzuĀ
But I think she secretly cares a bit and threatens anyone that looks at his scar wrong, because Zuko helped her a lot with some stuff
I think sheās going to be in the same year as Katara and Aang? Iām not sure
I have plans for Azula
I think Mai and Ty Lee are going to be in Zukoās year, but closer to Azula
Mai and Zuko will date at some point
I think Mai will end up with Ty Lee
But she and Zuko had a short relationship
I think it was more expected of them by their families that they date
But theyāre good friends now
Iām not doing this betraying and cheating and hurting other characters to find out who you are thing
Everyone is having wholesome relationships that just donāt work out
(Sidenote, Iām changing things, and characters might end up a bit OOC for atla, and Iām really sorry, but this is just wish fulfillment for me)
Anyway, thereās a plot to find the avatarĀ
The mini gaang (toph isnāt here yet)Ā learn the prophecy (still working on it)
Third year
They find out about Sokka and Kataraās mom
I donāt think Hakoda really knows what happened either. I donāt think he was in the country at the time
I also have some ideas for the water tribe/fire nation beef, but I just made the realization that if I spell everything out in these posts, whatās the point of writing for Ao3 XD
But spoilers, itās going to be pretty angsty
But I like happy endings, so I may find a way to fix it
Ish
I have this whole idea that if Suki or the Kyoshi are also werewolves, they have really cool rituals to respect and honor the moon spirit and that allows them the ability to turn into wolves whenever they want and not just the full moon
So other people can also be born as werewolves, but different groups have different ways of being a werewolf
Also, I believe I said Zuko starts following Suki around thinking sheās the avatar
And then Sokka decides to fake being the avatar (I completely forgot when I said this would happen, so Iām assuming itās this year or the next)
This is about when Sokkaās letters to Hakoda start going on about Zukoās everything even more
Fourth year
Zuko (Zukoās fifth year) witnesses something unspeakable
Sokka is kidnapped
Zuko saves Sokka
Thatās all the detail I have on this XD
But the unspeakable thing and the kidnapping are going to be this yearās mystery
Zuko, the idiot, still thinks Sokka is the avatar at this point
Aang is like no
But doesnāt bother to say he is
So Zuko thinks Katara is the avatar for a hot sec
But has some nonsense logic that thereās no need to stop following Sokka, because if he or his sister are the avatar, of the two, Sokkaās more likely to give something away
Which okay, Zuko, not actually terrible reasoning, except Sokkaās been leading you around by the nose for ages
Thereās none of this the avatar rotates which element they can use
Because thatās predictable
And half the fun is that Zuko is trying his best, but has zero clues
Fifth year
This is the big question
Iām not sure what to do with this year
I hope Sokka can start inventing
I want him to make some cool shit
There wonāt be an equivalent of the DA as far as I can see :( I canāt figure out how Iād structure that
I think it would be really cool to see them all learning how to use their elemental magic though
Toph and Zuko donāt really need the help
Katara and Aang have always had to deal with all the crap going on, so they havenāt had much time for it
Iām wondering if I should bring in Paku
Aang has it rough, because air magic users are really rare now
So I think he might work with Iroh, because heās studied other styles of magic extensively
Sixth year
I think Mai had to figure out she was bi
I truly think Zuko doesnāt have time for gender
For like five years, heās like DO YOU KNOW WHO THE AVATAR IS and if you donāt, heās already forgotten who you are
So my headcanon is that heās pan and when he and Sokka eventually get together, Sokka doesnāt know anything about his orientation and just knows he dated Mai, so heās like āare you cool with me being a dude? Sorry, I just know youāve dated Mai, so just checking haha?ā
And Zukoās so done with all the random crap heās dealt with that heās like āwow, you have a dick? Congratulationsā
But then realizes Sokkaās actually concerned and talks it out
Anyway, everyoneās leveled up now, weāre all masters at elemental and non-elemental magic (seriously, Sokka couldāve sat for his NEWTs last year if he wanted to. Heās that far ahead and magic is that intuitive for him)
I have no idea what will happen this year lol
I kind of want an invasion of Hogwarts, I know Iāve been trying not to just blindly follow the books completely :/ So I guess weāll see?
Iāll have to work on that
Iām such a sucker for the villain waits until the end of the school year to attack
Because itās so dumb
Like I will find the avatar! *shakes fist* But education is important, kids
Like okay, Sozin
Maybe I can have Roku finally escape that mirror
I kind of want the past avatars to be spirits that anyone can interact with
But most people donāt know how
So the Kyoshi can interact with Avatar Kyoshi as well as other relevant spirits
Seventh year
????
The plot?? Who knows yet
I do know that Zukoās graduated
And theyāre all crying and like wtf do we do now
Because Sozinās still around and theyāll miss him
And finally Zuko leaves
And he shows up as the assistant DADA professor and heās likeĀ āHi, Zuko hereā and then heās likeĀ āI mean, fuck, Professor Zuko, I mean, fuck...just call me Zuko. You guys all know meā
And the gaang is all like wtf Zuko, we thought we would only see you for breaks
And heās like you really thought Iād leave you
The plan is that heāll be an apprentice for a year or so and then take over as professor
Toph punches him so hard, Katara has to heal the bruise
I can guarantee a happy ending
Iāll do whatever angst on the way, but theyāll all be happy
Iām like 89% sure theyāre all going to end up working at or around Hogwarts (why work for the government, when you can invest in teaching all these talented kids)
One more thing, there is going to be rep in this au. I know thereās at least one aro ace character. Multiple bi characters. One gay character. One pan character. One trans character that I know of, but I need to plan that out a bit more. Some of these orientations and identities, I canāt speak to personally. For instance, while I know a decent amount about the medical aspects of transitioning, I donāt think Iād be able to write the experience of gender dysphoria and give that its due right now. So unless itās something I have first hand experience with, most of the individual emotions as part of figuring things out might happen off screen. That doesnāt mean I wonāt bring up issues the characters may have had in the past, but any that I talk about, Iād have to do more research into first. Also, partly because this is mostly from Sokka and Zukoās perspectives, weāre mostly going to be present for what other characters tell them about their experiences
I hope you continue to enjoy this au! Sorry, this got so insanely long. The next couple weeks are going to be a bit crazy for me, so I thought Iād write this up while I had the chance. Iāll be back soon though! If anyone has any suggestions or questions, please let me know :)

an interview with @burninghoneyatduskā (she/her) What are you working on right now? Right now Iām prioritizing prompts for the Bellarke Writers for BLM Initiative, which is a mix of new prompts and requests for WIP updates. I just posted a chapter update of my fic Voices in the Water, which is a canon-verse/everyone is a grounder arranged marriage AU with a bit of a twist, and next Iām working on a new prompt. After that, Iāve got three chapters of All Because of YouĀ Ā requested. All Because of You is a modern AU with bellarke as *platonic* coparents. The story is told in alternating flashbacks and present day (every other chapter). The flashbacks focus on them growing closer during Clarkeās unplanned pregnancy and the present is seven years later, where they have to come to terms with their feelings for each other when Clarke gets engaged to someone else.
Whatās something youād like to write one day? I would love to publish a novel one day. For years I had a YA dystopian/time travel trilogy kind of planned but I poked too many holes in it and want to start from scratch in that regard. Another novel I want to write is one that covers three generations of women, looking at mother-daughter relationships, women in society, generational traumaā¦ a lot of stuff. It was inspired by learning about my grandmotherās life more and thinking about how it impacted her relationship with my mother, and in turn my motherās relationship with me.
For fanfiction, beyond my current prompts and WIPs, I have two other fics outlined. One is an AU inspired by the movie Plus One. The other is a soulmate AU thatās a bit dark and involves immortality, magic, and essentially Bellamy as a villain with a redemption arc.
What is the fanwork youāre most proud of? I think All Because of You will probably remain my most popular, but right now Iām most proud of Voices in the Water. More so than my other fics, it has a more concise plot and Iāve done a deeper dive into Clarkeās character as an Azgeda assassin and I think the reader really gets into her head more than my other multiple POV fics. Itās also my first canonverse fic and Iāve enjoyed diving into that world and expanding upon it where I want.
When did you first start writing fic? I didnāt start writing fic until the beginning of 2019. I first published in February 2019, which was Homesick (Itās a Bittersweet Feeling).Ā It was my first fic and the only multichapter WIP thatās complete right now, so itās a special story for me.
What frustrates you most about fic writing? Iāve mostly had only a positive experience with fanfic writing. With the exception of a couple stray comments, my readers have been gracious, kind, and most importantly, patient. But I guess it can be challenging when you self-impose pressure because youāre aware that people are waiting for you to publish so sometimes I rush things. I havenāt personally experienced this, but I think that fic writing can also be frustrating when readers feel like you owe them something or unnecessarily offer negative comments that arenāt at all constructive. Some people forget that people are publishing stories for free, in their spare time, often in addition to full-time jobs or school and parenting.
What are your top five songs right now? 1. castles (freya ridings) 2. maniac (conan gray) 3. fired up (grace carter) 4. I am not afraid (g flip) 5. wanna be (betty who)
What are your inspirations? (books, songs, other fic) I take inspiration from all of those things but I would say mostly quotes and random photos on tumblr. I wrote Homesick because I liked the step-siblings/forbidden trope and wanted to write in a small town setting like the one I grew up in. All Because of You was honestly the classic āthis is my bedtime daydream story I think about every nightā so itās pretty self-indulgent with the tropes I wanted to use. Voices in the Water was started because I loved the grounder!Bellamy / arranged marriage trope. The wanheda twist came from me reading the 4x11 script to screen with Clarke trying to force herself to shoot Bellamy to save humanity, but realizing that she canāt.
What first attracted you to Bellarke? What attracts you now? Iām not sure I remember a specific moment but I think I remember bellarke being all over my tumblr dash when I started s2 so kind of paying close attention to them during s2. s2 was of course a great season for them and by the āknocking on heavenās doorā scene in 2x16 I was a goner.
Regarding what drew me to them, I think Iāve always loved a good slow burn with the partners/āIāve got your backā vibe that they have. My first (and biggest) OTP before them was tony & ziva from NCIS which is a really similar vibe although a very different show.
Besides Bellarke, what character or pairing do you like best on t100? I think that Memori is probably my second place ship. Before s7, I would say there was a HUGE gap between my love of Bellarke and Memori, but this season has made me an even bigger Memori fan. I have to say that while I donāt think there was ever a chance of Murven happening, I do understand why people ship it. I think they have great chemistry/a great dynamic and in another life, so to speak, I would have shipped them.Ā
Regarding characters on their own, I just love all my delinquents, but I think that Murphy is solidly my third favorite character. Raven and Octavia are probably tied behind him.
Why did you decide to start bellarkefic-for-blm? I credit the reason to Kara ( @queenemori ). (Sidenote: everyone go follow her! Sheās an amazing fanfic writer and overall just a really positive, awesome person to have in the fandom). I remember reading her post Ā - and I wonāt try to paraphrase, so please take the time to read her it - but in general it got me thinking about how we as a fandom could support the BLM movement in a substantial way that is more than just spreading posts on social media, and in a way that doesnāt lose momentum as time goes on and the movement becomes less ātrendy.ā I thought about how many people collectively read our fanfiction and how we provide it for free, and if people could just pay a few dollars or however much they can afford and donate that to the cause, we collectively could make a huge difference. So thatās what Iām hoping this is - making a substantial difference in a way that doesnāt fade in time and also uses the power of fandom in a useful way. We have a lot of power if we collectively put it towards something like this instead of fighting over ships or actors or whatnot. I also figured that maybe weād have readers who werenāt paying attention to the movement and that maybe because they want to submit a prompt, theyād do some research on where to donate, and that in turn helps educate them on the issue - or is at least a start.
Has it been as successful as youād hoped? So on the positive side, I do think itās incredible that in about six weeks weāve raised nearly $1250 and have been able to donate to a variety of organizations. Iām incredibly grateful for the authors donating their time and the enthusiastic readers participating. I donāt mean to sound negative at all, but if Iām being honest, I do feel a little frustration at the lack of participation across the fandom as a whole or maybe more specifically across the AO3 readers. I know that my WIP chapters average about 1k hits per update. Thatās a lot of people. Even if you cut that in half because maybe people are rereading, thatās still 500 people. So why are only about 20 of my readers donating to this initiative? I think itās a bit discouraging when you look at the percentage in that way.Ā
Thatās not to say that I donāt understand that some arenāt financially in a position to donate, but Iāve made it clear that there are other ways to contribute (e.g. signing petitions, writing to politicians) and there hasnāt been traction with that either. So I think that in general, something is always better than nothing and it has in no way discouraged me from continuing this. But Iām hoping that more people are able to participate as time goes on. Itās truly a win-win situation of generating more fanfics for readers and donating to an important issue, so I hope to see the percentage of fanfiction readers submitting prompts increase and am doing what I can to continue spreading the word about it.Ā
I guess in summary what Iām saying is, Iām proud of what the fandom has done so far, but letās step it up. We can do more, we can do better. Maybe people will get pissed I said that, but idk. If you read fic and can buy a $3 coffee, you can donate to this cause. Itās important. As was Karaās point, letās not see this momentum fade when the BLM movement becomes less ~trendy~.
What are some things youād like to recommend? Instead of writing an essay about all the fics I love, Iād like to link both my bookmarked fics which is my complete list of bellarke fic recs.
I also want to recommend visiting the Bellarke Writers for BLM Initiative writersā page - these writers are incredible so please go check out their existing works and continue requesting prompts for the BLM movement!
On the note of BLM, I'd also like to link this article. It's older, written in the aftermath of the Charleston attack, but it remains one of the most thought provoking pieces I've read on race in our country.
it was my honor to interview burninghoneyatdusk! honestly, if you arenāt reading Voices in the Water, which is Bellarke except Clarke is anĀ assassin, you should be. it haunts me. she also organized the very cool bellarkefic-for-blm.Ā

Warning: Tokyo Mew Mew Au Lait spoilers
Iāve gotten the chance to start reading TMM Ore and in general itās so nice to revisit this world again. Thanks to scanlation team of @hikayagami , @ribbonstrawberrysurprise , and @berrychanx. It never occured to me that this spinoff would softly reboot the origins of the Mew Mews but most of the changes are not unwelcome. I can pretty nitpicky when I want to be but Iām really trying not to let my nostalgia for my girls direct my enjoyment.
My favourite so far is Shibuya Aoi. Heās a cool (and pretty) guy whoās popular, but he has nothing he feels like heās good at. He briefly mentions at the end of chapter one that heās always wanted to be a hero, however, with the responsibilities and quirks of being a Mew Mew that come with it, heās still pretty reluctant. Heās for sure a solid character juxtaposed to Ichigo (who surprisingly is also my fave). One of my few misgivings is that Iād rather he be the main character by which we follow the story. I really think his character can be a nuanced one bigger thanĀ āBoy Ichigoā.
Anzu is fine, but thatās kind of it. Her only connection (as far as Iāve gotten) is that she loves endangered species, sheās related to Natsume who heads the project, and sheās very important to the goals of Oreās villain squad.
Sidenote: I love that they continued the sweets theme. Iām not a coffee person but Mocha, Chai, and Latte are such cute names.
Instead of erasing Anzu altogether, I would have rather she just take Natsuās place as the scientist considering she is so knowledgeable. It gives her distinct ties to the plot and interactions with the boys. Iām sure she is the Masaya for this iteration but I feel like sheās going to bounce around until sheās needed as a prop for the plot. I love Masaya so I want to love Anzu too. Iām not particularly invested in the romance but romances can be hit or miss with me so thatās not the narrativeās fault. Iāll probably come out of it with my own headcanons and ships anyway.
TMM is a franchise Iāve loved deeply for a very long time and I doubt Ore will hold a candle to the original in the same way but Iām still ready to invest in these characters and see how they grow. And my eyes are peeled for more TMM Re-Turns news.

hi essbie!! you seem super awesomeā¤ļøā¤ļø if you would like to talk to me about the west wing i would love that! iām watching for the first time now and iām in LOVE with it- tell me all your thoughts! otps, favorite episodes, arcs, characters... anything!
oh my god, this is my FAVORITE ASK THAT I HAVE EVER RECEIVED EVER. iām so happy to talk about the west wing because the fandom thatās still alive today seems to be TINY (although high-spirited!!). thank you for asking!! i will endeavor to talk a lot.... which isnāt hard for me, lol.
(psst, before we begin, can i recommend you check out @donnajosh, who posts gorgeous new gifsets of tww pretty regularly [and also has gifs tagged by episode so you can find the right post to reblog when youāre liveblogging, shh],Ā @etraytin, whoās written some AMAZING multichaps that have gotten me through this very stressful week, and @cassiesinsanity, whoās just plain genuinely amazing?? okay. now that thatās out of the way.)
i tried to figure out from your blog where you are in the show, but i canāt find anything more detailed thanĀ āprobably has finished in the shadow of two gunmenā,Ā so iām just gonna keep things anti-spoilers. there are some really, really cool plot developments in tww, and i donāt recommend you spoil yourself for things on purpose! but also like. i DEFINITELY spoil things for myself all the time. so what the hell, donāt listen to me lol.
(i tried to put this under a cut, but tumblr glitched. sorry, peeps who donāt care about the west wing. also, WATCH THE WEST WING.)
my ALL TIME, dearest headcanon is adhd josh. i just. i love my boy so much. i love my impulsive, ridiculously-sensitive-to-perceived-rejection, loud, hyperfixated boy so much. i donāt know everything about adhd, but from what i know josh is TEXTBOOK. or at least heās a lot like me! and iām reasonably sure i have adhd. so. iām REALLY, REALLY into that headcanon and everything about it. (i actually wrote a fic in which i wrote him the way i see his adhd presenting, because i love him so much. hmm, i should write a fic about josh being adhd. what kind of stims would josh like??)
i loveĀ and adoreĀ josh/donna, like many many other people. i like zoey/charlie, just because i think they make each other happy and both of them deserve that. i... like cj/danny? sorta? i think theyāre adorable, and they have some REALLY good moments (no spoilers but. oh my god. danny really out here chugging his respect women juice and i love him for it). but also i am EXTREMELY ATTACHED to cj/toby and more specifically cj/toby/andy.
HEAR ME OUT. cj has EXTREME wlw energy and cj and toby have A LOT of married energy but then toby and andy... love each other soĀ much, itās so clear, in literally everything they do, i donāt know if youāve gotten to the end of s5 yet but i cry. so like?? obviously, because i am who i am, polyamory is the answer! basically the rundown is: andy and toby are a typical couple except that they fight a lot. cj is kinda in the middle. if gay marriage had been legal / socially acceptable in the 80s (because god knows this ot3 has been thinking about optics since they graduated college), cj and andy wouldāve gotten married and toby wouldāve come and gone depending on who heād pissed off recently, and everything wouldāve been perfect. instead, andy and toby got married and it didnāt work because they really just couldnāt function as a unit, especially since their getting married meant that cj isolated herself a bit more. definitely cj and toby have a couple of SCREAMING arguments about the whole relationship. idk.
but just like. imagine with me, if you will, cj and toby... not dating, while working in the white house, but being exes. friendly exes. friendly exes who are still in love with each other and knowĀ it. please imagine that and then think aboutĀ āi love you desperatelyĀ / i knowāĀ andĀ āyou wanna make out with me right now, donāt you? / well, when donāt i?ā andĀ āwe had it good there for a while / yeah, we didā and then join me in the pit of sadness.
(sidenote i have a sense8 au for the west wing and the second story is just me being emotional about their cluster for 5k. i have another story vaguely planned that iāll probably never write about the development of the ot3 and about their cluster and how it functions. but donāt read that story until you finish... the first half of s7? or thereabouts? actually probably you should finish the show before you read the sense8 au in general if youāre avoiding spoilers.)
(when i sayĀ āiāll probably never writeā, i meanĀ āuntil the next time i get obsessed with the west wingā. which will probably be years from now. oh, well, we can all hope the muse actually does something efficient for once.)
so yeah. those are my ships. i know a lot of people shipped josh/sam, but i donāt really see it? sam always seemed Way Too Straight for that to work lol, although i DO like the idea of sam pining tragically for josh for years just like donna does. (can you tell i read such a winterās day a few days ago? itās amazing. i havenāt left a review yet because i have not been a human being recently, but go read it!! itās awesome!!)
also, i love the idea of bartlet/abbey/leo, although i canāt really visualize it lol. but thereās some amazing fic for them out there. maybe one day my stupid brain will realize the angst potential and actually let me write something for them, hopefully within the sense8 au. (sam also has a cluster! and i would love to write about them! .....but my brain doesnāt do what i tell it to. ever.)
my favorite arc.... i donāt know. i really loved the early seasons, which were a little more episodic, but ALSO i actually really liked the tone after aaron sorkin left after s4? it takes some getting used to, but itās WAY more emotional, and i am ALL HERE FOR THAT. i definitely have a least favoite arc, or at least a least-favorite way-that-they-handled-a-storyline (spoiler alert: i hated how they handled the end of bartletās presidency in the white house. like. SHEāS ALL ALONE IN THERE- anyways. trying not to give detailed spoilers!)
favorite episodes: hmm. i love the thanksgiving episodes. i loved any episode with the ainsley-and-sam dynamic. noelĀ is a phenomenal episode. 26Ā could make anyone weep. the flashbacks are the best. the fucking- the fucking whatās nextĀ motif.
honestly, probably iād have to say my favorite episode is either 4x20 (evidence of things not seen,Ā forĀ āstupidly noble clusterā reasons and cj/toby reasons and bartlet & charlie reasons. also i feel like thereās some good josh/donna there too but i canāt remember exactly?) or 7x21 (institutional memory,Ā because iām pretty sure the writers reached into my id and pulled out EXACTLY what i needed from them to be okay with the show ending. jesus CHRIST i have never felt so satisfied after an episode. literally everything i ever could have wanted happened in that episode. iām STILL reeling. itās a perfect episode.)
my favorite characters are... literally everyone? i know thatās cheating but i love them all SO MUCH (except mandy and amy, of course). josh is my favorite, always and forever, but i love cj more than words and sometimes i canāt breathe for love of toby. leo and bartlet and charlie and sam and donna- here i was thinking i was gonna resent will forever but i LOVE will. ainsley is an amazing woman. abbey is such a goodĀ character, god, talk about a flawed woman whoās allowed to be a good person.
AND THEN THEY MADE ME ROOT FOR A REPUBLICAN. again, i doubt youāve gotten to s7, but the republican nominee in the last election... jesus christ. i love that man so much. arguably, iām very biased, but also how D A R E they expect me to root against him. how DARE.
(i swear this will make more sense once you meet him. i just love the actor a lot,Ā okay?)
anyways. this got ridiculously long. i would LOVE to talk about the west wing with you, feel free to reblog this with your own thoughts or tag me in your own post or message me or something. i would love to hear your reactions!! itās such a good show, and such a smart show, and every character is so mcfreaking goodĀ at what they do and i adore it. enjoy the ride because thereās nothing as perfect and as quality as the west wing. if youāll please excuse me, iām going to go cry about 7x21 again.
#loudwithlaughter#(SUCH AN AMAZING URL BTW)#the west wing#donna x josh#andy x cj x toby#verse: and it's golden#sb and l rambles#sb and l answers#sb and l watches tww#adhd josh lyman#hmm is that all relevant tags?#i'm just gonna stick a#tww ideas#on this and leave it for my future self to sort out#god i forgot how perfect 7x21 was#i can't believe it even has andy/cj interaction in it#imagine having my unicorn of a femslash rarepair INTERACT IN CANON#can't relate usually#god i love toby so much#i don't know if i managed to get across how much i adore toby but#loml. god. i love that mans so much#jesus CHRIST i wrote a lot here#uh?? thank you for the ask??#i love talking about my interests as you could probably tell#<3 <3 very nice to meet you!

Olivie Blake... How do I begin to explain Olivie Blake?
Olivie Blake is flawless.
I hear her hairās insured for $10,000.
I hear she does quidditch commercialsā¦ at Beauxbatons.
Her favorite movie is At Last.
One time she met Henry Cavill on a planeā¦ And he told her she was pretty.
Sheās never punched me in the face... But if it happened, Iām sure it would be awesome...
But in all reality,
Happy Birthday @olivieblake!!! Hereās to another year of Olivie-ness, podcasts, and ships that take everyone by surprise as well as to an exciting year for ORIGINAL WORK!! (yay yay yay)
Sally asked if I would *just, like, briefly* talk about my fave fic of yours and I was like cool, ok, Iāve got this, letās do it, but because Iām super sentimental, it just ended up being a long-ass love letter.. But:
I donāt remember how I ended up on the Olivie train..Iām assuming I mustāve seen something about your work reblogged on my dash, and the rest is history. All I can say about being part of the the fanclub is, itās like the mafia... yāknow, once you get in, you never get out.
Out of all of your fics, Clean and Marked remain my favorites. I donāt disagree that your writing style has matured and improved and all that jazz compared to those two fics (I mean, Nobility was just on another level, and How To Win is kind of perfect in every way, and Nightmares and Nocturnes actually murdered me and then brought me back to life, and Iām obsessed with how you weave together Modern Romance, and Ride or Die was the wildest ride of all), but Clean and Marked will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Theyāve pretty much replaced canon in my mind. I think they're just such a beautiful story about two people who challenge each other and change each other and bring out the best in each other and also.. just.... *flails* And I also fell in love with Theo and what would I ever do without your Theo? And the snark. But, for me, the best thing is that since the whole culmination of the plot leads to the idea that Draco & Hermione will be drawn to one another in this world or any other, itās become the framework in my mind which all the other Dramione fan fiction I read (most of all of which, these days, is yours) gets inadvertently built on top of. Whether Iām reading Nobility or H2W or Ride or Die or HP for real, Iām subconsciously always thinking about the two being pulled together whether itās by fate or by choice, etc. And overall itās just such a versatile theme and Iāve latched onto it and will probably never let go. AND letās not get started on the plot twist at the end, because it was heartbreaking and it killed me and then chapter 36 was like twisting a knife in my heart and then there was 37 and the epilogue and all was right in the world again and Iām all sorts of obsessed with it.
But Iām hopelessly drawn into every drabble & fluff & every au you write cause your writing is just magnificent. Your Dramione work is out of this world, but when it comes down to it, I think we all originally came for the Dramione and ended up being held captive because of your insane, amazing, and frankly kind of frightening writing abilities (also because deep down we (well, I) hope youāll write more Parkweasel). Youāre so funny and talented and clever and it shows in how to weave together and tell your stories; I love anything and everything you write simply because of how well itās done. Also I love the sheer number of inside jokes in, like, all of them (*cue Michael Scott*).
And yeah so it feels like Iām part of one with you and everyone who reads your fics and itās awesome. So anyways this thing is getting excessively long and itās really turned into of a senseless rant more than anything, but I am really really suPREMELY excited for Masters of Death and am looking forward to getting my hands on it (I ORDERED IT TODAY BUT AS I AM KIND OF BROKE I DIDNāT SPLURGE ON SHIPPING SO I MUST WAIT UNTIL NEXT WEDNESDAY TO GET IT BUT anyways SO EXCITING) but let me just get to the point already,
Olivie, thanks so much for being your wonderful and TALENTED self; thanks for being our Lord and Savior and for gracing us with your presence; and thank you!!! a million times over for giving us your one-of-a-kind fics and for continuously telling stories about and re-creating the world and characters we all (obviously) love so much and hold dear. Thanks for the sleepovers and answering all our weird asks [sidenote: I was like, huh, whatās Olivieās fave movie and you answered (*thanks*) but then I went looking in your gratuitous personal info tag and youād answered that question like 5 times already *whoops*] and for being half of probably the best podcast to grace this website in the history of ever. Happy birthday one more time! Wishing you tons and tons of happiness and good luck in the coming year.
Ok sorry this was so dAMN long I tried to cut it down but I just couldnāt stop (also is it just me, or did i say your name like 2 million time in this post, which seems weird) (and xo, obviously)
#olivie has a birthday#sally said +/- 100 words#but this is much much past 100#I'm so sorry lol#hbd though

#I like this au bc it does what role reversals do best: force you to question which parts of a character are innate#Lightray is characterized as the kindest of new genesis but this is tied heavily to his sheltered upbringing on new genesis#We also see him mostly prioritize orion as his personal friend; this is unlike highfather and orion who are both big picture thinkers#Don't get me wrong lightray has a strong sense of justice but he's a little more prone to ruthlessness than you'd expect#And this au would rlly bring that out; some of his kindness is innate I believe but itd be duppressed like orion supresses his anger#On the other hand Scott's most defining attribute of fucking bailing on everything is still there its just twisted#Bc Scott in canon almost never seeks out danger and doesnt really feel responsible for fighting apokolips#But thats easily read as being bc he went through hell already so he jus wants to get away now#He already has a strong sense of justice in canon and is incapable of not helping ppl if they're in front of him#So in an au where he grew up on new genesis i DO think he'd be inclined to join himon in a way he didnt in canon#Bc that sense of justice would've been nurtured and never had to be stamped out or overridden for the sake of survival#Also sidenote I think a cool way for the plot of this au to go would be for barda + scott to join with the forever people#And find shilo norman as having the anti life equation#You could also have scott getting the equation if you want#I personally like the idea of thaddeus brown passing it onto him#Obvs both of those directions would be more AU than just the role reversal but I think they're Neat
